An Apprehended Domestic Violence Order relates to a “Domestic” situation in which there has been an actual or perceived act of violence, stalking or intimidation between people who are deemed to be in a “Domestic” relationship.
An ADVO is usually taken out by the police and served on the person listed as the defendant. But if the police refuse to apply for an ADVO for you, usually because you have left it too long to report an incident, then do not despair !! The application can be made privately.
